Member of the Zigbee Alliance Expert Panel
Jonathan has over 20 years' experience in telecommunications testing, and is responsible for Element's worldwide ZigBee services.
After obtaining his Degree (Hons) and a Diploma in Engineering, Jonathan worked for a number of engineering companies prior to obtaining a lecturing and research role at the University of Hull (England) within the Department of Electronic Engineering.
In 1995 he joined KTL, an internationally renowned test laboratory, as part of the Digital Group specialising in regulatory requirement for digital telecommunications equipment. During his time at KTL he was, among other things, Senior Protocol Engineer and Approvals & Homologation Group Manager.
Later, working for TRaC Global Ltd, Jonathan became actively involved in ZigBee technology and was appointed ZigBee Business Manager.
Jonathan is now Element Material Technology’s global expert on ZigBee testing and approvals, with extensive experience in advising and developing testing policy and procedure.
He frequently gives presentations at the annual European ZigBee Developers Conference and Wireless Congress and has been a regular contributor of articles to Incisor Magazine.
Jonathan has actively participated in various technical working groups for a number of international alliances and forums, including the Broadband Forum, the Continua Alliance and the ZigBee Alliance.
He has held positions as the Chair of the ZigBee Retail Services (ZRS) Group, Technical Editor for the ZigBee Qualification Group (ZQG) and has been a member of the ZigBee Architecture Review Committee (ZARC). In addition, Jonathan was appointed a Continua Certification Expert (CCE) and has held the Chair of the CCE Group within the Continua Alliance.
His current positions include Chair of the ZigBee Certification Task Group and Vice-Chair of the ZigBee PRO Technical Sub-Committee. He is a member of ZigBee Technical Committee and is one of the eight sitting members of the ZigBee Expert Panel for the ZigBee Alliance.
