Sam Seccomble

Field Specialist Conservation Technology Unit, Zoological Society of London

Sam Seccombe came to the Zoological Society of London’s Conservation Technology Unit having served for 4.5 years as a British Army reconnaissance Captain. In 2012 he served on Operations in Afghanistan mentoring the burgeoning Afghan Police and later in his career led his Regiment’s anti-tank missile troop. Starting at ZSL in 2016 as Field Specialist he is able to combine his Zoology degree and passion for conservation with his experience using the latest military grade communications and sensing equipment. Currently working on ZSL’s Instant Detect wildlife monitoring and anti-poaching system, he is responsible for new equipment and technique development, in-house testing, running field trials and training Instant Detect users on the system’s deployment.
